The Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Prof Ganiyu Olatunde, has said that 42 out of 10,258 students of the institution will be graduating with first class Bachelor degrees, while 1,436 and 4, 152 others will graduate in the Second Class Upper and Second Lower divisions, respectively.The VC stated this on Monday at a briefing held to announce the 28th and 29th convocation ceremonies of the institution scheduled to start between Tuesday January 21.

Olatunde also disclosed that the 10,258 graduates included 192 postgraduate diploma, 882 Masters graduates and 124 PhD holders.He said the forthcoming convocation ceremony would be for graduands produced in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 academic sessions.He said, “We will have 8,800 graduates for first degree, 1,198 post graduates with 42 first class degree, 1,436 second class upper, 4,152 second Class Lower, 2,655 third class and 287 pass degree.”

While highlighting the activities scheduled for the event, the VC said the ceremony would take place between Januray 21 and 31, 2020.He disclosed that Governor Dapo Abiodun would be commissioning the newly constructed Administration and Information Communication Technology buildings on the main campus of the university in Ago-Iwoye.He added that the Provost of Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Prof Olusola Akinrinade, had been invited to deliver the convocation lecture on the theme, “The Integrity challenge in Nigeria’s Higher Education: Towards creating a new normal”.The VC further disclosed that honorary degrees will be conferred on the Minister for Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hajia Zainab Ahmed; the Olu Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and the President of Brent Mortgage Bank, Major General Sansadeen Awosanya.Olatunde explained that the conferment is aimed to recognise the honorees’ contributions to the development of the country and the institution.
