The Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has commended the National Youth Service Corps for its efforts in supporting the government in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
The Monarch made this commendation while taking delivery of hand sanitizers, liquid soaps and face masks produced by Corps Members at his palace in Abeokuta.
The traditional ruler who appreciated NYSC Management and Corps Members also promised effective distribution of the donated materials.
“I am not surprised that NYSC is supporting the government to eradicate the COVID-19 pandemic from the country because of its usual contribution to national development”.
“Several times, I have seen Corps Members executing laudable developmental projects within their host communities. The Scheme has been a huge success to the country”, the monarch said.
NYSC Ogun State Coordinator who led the team in the presentation of the items, Mrs Belinda Faniyi, appreciated the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim who she said has been in the forefront of ensuring that Corps Members use their creative ingenuity in contributing to the fight against the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
She noted that apart from the donation, Corps Members have also helped in sensitizing their host communities on the need for regular hand washing, use of face masks and the need to maintain social distance as measures to prevent them from contacting the dreaded disease.
The Coordinator added that Corps Medical personnel have been assisting their senior professional colleagues since the outbreak began.
