The National Universities Commission has granted full approval to some academic programmes at the Ekiti State University , Ado Ekiti .A letter signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation , Dr Maryam Sali , on behalf of the Executive Secretary , addressed to EKSU Vice Chancellor , Prof Edward Olanipekun , stated that courses that got full accreditation status included undergraduate and postgraduate programmes .
The affected undergraduate programmes are Law , Civil Engineering , Electrical /Electronic Engineering , Geology, Psychology , Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Education Christian Religious Studies , Electrical /Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies and Philosophy .
A statement from the Head, EKSU Directorate of Information , Bode Olofinmuagun , on Monday listed the affected postgraduate programmes as M . Sc . ( Banking and Finance ); Master of Business Administration ; M . Sc .( Business Administration); Master of Personnel Management ; and Master of Public Administration.
Olofinmuagun said that the Chairman of the institution ’ s Governing Council , Prof Bamitale Omole, and the vice chancellor gave the assurance that EKSU would not compromise academic standards .
The NUC , which has the statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in Nigerian universities , conducted the accreditation of the EKSU programmes in October /November , 2019 .Olofinmuagun said that the EKSU played host to various accreditation teams from the NUC late last year.
He also said that the governing council , at its virtual meeting presided over by Omole, received the news of the full accreditation of the programmes with joy.
“ The meeting also reviewed the contribution of the university to the fight against the COVID- 19 pandemic through the report of the committee put in place for the purpose as well as other matters relating to the welfare of staff , ” Olofinmuagun stated.
